Hello, I am Nippun Bhalla

A creative professional from New Delhi, currently based in Berlin. I work in the intersection of art, design and culture. It is the space where I feel the most comfortable in. I am passionate about graphic design, illustration, animation and building communities.

I bring a collective experience of 7 years in a variety of creative avenues, ranging from architectural design, web design, digital art, graphic design to event curation/production. My work is my attempt to understand human perception and curating meaningful experiences through the medium of visual expression.

My Journey

2012 - 2017

Bachelor in Architecture

Chitkara School of Planning & Architecture,
Chandigarh

Studying architectural design gave me the tools for critical thinking. It was in this time that I built the foundations for my creative process. From being able to translate my imagination on a piece of paper, to understanding how the nature of a space effects its inhabitant’s lived experiences.

2017-2020

Architectural Designer

Ideate Design Studio,
New Delhi

Working with Ideate exposed me to a myriad of experiences within architecture, such as urban design, built and natural heritage conservation, lanscape architecture, graphic design and Illustration.

Achievement: I was the youngest architect to have a direct impact in the Delhi Development Authority’s Urban walkability project, I re-designed the streets of one of 8 districts of New Delhi, making them more pedestrian friendly and improving connectivity for public transportation.

Exhibition Designer

Freelancer,
New Delhi

As an exhibition designer, I worked with tourism ministries of different states of India, to design their respective state pavilions at the India International Trade Fair (IITF) in 2018 and 2019. This experience allowed me to enhance my vision of spacial and environmental graphic design as an independent designer.

Achievement: My design for the Bihar state pavilion at IITF 2018 won the award for the best state pavilion.

2021-2022

MA Visual & Experience Design

University of Applied Science,
Berlin

As a designer who draws inspiration from multiple avenues of design, the VED masters course gave me the tools for applying that inspiration to meaningful projects. My mentors pushed me to expand my knowledge and made me truly understand the role of the designer in a rapidly changing tech driven world.

MA Thesis: Social Media’s role in building resilient societies and enhancing public health responses. Designed a social networking app geared to boost resilience within neighbourhoods.

2022-2023

Freelance Designer

Berlin

As an independent designer, I have been able to understand which avenues of design do I gravitate towards naturally. As my selected works might tell you, my heart truly lies in graphic design and cultural events. The skill set I possess because of my journey till now, allows me to put meaning in the marks I make, on paper, on ground and in the world. I am constantly devoted to expanding my skills, finding new experiences and making good things happen.
